Ft. Nelson, British Columbia – Thursday, July 14, 2011
Yesterdays experience with the tar covered Element spurred Frank into action. After spending several hours removing the tar deposits he decided to install the Protect-A-Tow shield. Of course there were modifications to be made. It’s supposed to prevent junk from hitting the front of the Element. We’ll see. Here’s a picture of it installed.
We also visited the local Heritage Museum. A lot of the artifacts are left overs from the the Alaska Highway construction. The US, rather than recovering the equipment simply left it in place. It was cheaper to abandon it than to bring it back to the States.
Frank and EJ try there hand at wood carving. Frank’s a natural at it.
And this little fellow greeted us into the old trappers cabin.
Part of the tour included an old car barn.
This graced the flower planter in front of one of the restaurants in town. Think drilling is a big part of the local economy?
We had planned on heading out, but it was already 4:30 and the weather was looking and sounding nasty. We went back to the RV and Frank finished the Tow Protector and we just relaxed for the evening. Temps were in the 80’s today, but the rain came and it cooled off nicely.

ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting crankshaft in front of the museum. What's it off of?
