Frank’s Wagon is Still Draggin

Fairbanks, AK – Wed & Thurs, September 14 & 15, 2011

Wednesday morning, up and moving slow. Frank says he’s better, but doesn’t really look like it . Fixed a nice breakfast and Frank worked on the blog. Went back and forth about staying another day or heading back to Fairbanks. Hit the road wins. We had one last walk in the woods along the river and took off around 4:30pm. Had a nice drive into town, the trees are really golden now and lots of leaves are falling off.

Got back to Fairbanks to, you guessed it, Walmart. Even parked in the same spot. Went over to McDonald’s to use their Wifi. Frank did some research on the route we want to take through Canada and found out there is a section that is closed due to flooding. We will keep checking the status as we can, but we may end up going back the same way we came. We rented a movie from Redbox in Walmart and stayed in for the night. No Aurora to watch, but we did have a nice sunset.

Thursday Frank is up and says he’s better even though he sounds like a bullfrog. He wants to go out for breakfast, so off we go. Stopped at the Safeway for more fresh stuff and back to the RV to get ready to go. EJ went into Walmart to get some more cold medicine and Frank laid down. It’s raining and cold out and Frank is definitely fading as the day goes on, so we opted to take it easy today.

This is our third visit to this Walmart parking lot and each time we have seen this car parked here. The license plate is MYNEMO. The owner must work here or they spend as much time here as we have.

Hopefully tomorrow Frank will be on the mend, weather will clear up, and we will be on our way.

  1. Have you guys considered going back by way of the Alaskan panhandle? A lot of good sightseeing along there. And Buchart Gardens in Victoria is a must-see.
